Bloggin' with Janet Jacme

Greetings, ya'll. It's been awhile I know. I've been busy with some projects I'll be telling you about soon, including the re-launch of my completely re-designed website, but I wanted to comment on Apple's upcoming Tablet Computer.

It's being called iSlate and iPad and Slate and iBook and all kinds of iThings, but it could be revolutionary for a lot of industries, including the adult industry. The tablet, if you haven't heard, is going to be a 7-inch and/or a 10-inch touchscreen device capable of showing digital copies of magazines that look just like the ones you pick up at the barbershop or doctor's office.  You'll swipe your finger across the screen to turn the page and these digital copies will come to life with photo slideshows, videoclips and more.

Can you imagine how this might re-energize, say, Playboy? You could see Kim Kardashian's latest pictorial, but you could also see behind the scenes pictures with a push of a finger and see, say, teaser clips of a behind-the-scenes video, too. Then, let's say, for a small $2 or $3 fee, you could see the whole clip.

Imagine how this could work for subscription based sites in the adult world.

You no longer have to strain to look at your favorite girl on your iPhone or Blackberry small screen. You can see us full-sized on a full-color 10 inch touchscreen. And if you have a business laptop, you don't have to worry about trying to erase your tracks before you turn in your machine for service at work (one reader called me with a big sob story related to that).

I'm not sure how much one of these machines will cost. People are saying between $500 and $1,000, though a data subscription might subsidize some of that cost. I do know that as much as this might be a boon to the newspaper and magazine industries, which are struggling with internet-based competition, this machine could also be a boost to our industry, too.
